Current Projects
Gather:Make:Shelter’s current and recent projects include The Sketchbook Project, a printmaking collaboration with Mullowney Print Co., The JOY Project, The Monograph Project, two new murals, gardens, and The Connection Project.
The Sketchbook Project is a series of free drawing and creative writing workshops for people experiencing houselessness. Workshops will be held at our headquarters, and several partner social service agencies and alternative shelter villages.
Throughout 2024, GMS is excited to partner in a printmaking collabiration with Mullowney Printng Co. Throughout the collaboration, GMS participants will explore multiple printmaking techniques under the tutelage of master printers Paul Mullowney. The project will culminate in an exhibition in late 2024 featuring framed prints as well as a limited-edition collection of 15 portfolios.
The Monograph Project is a limited series of book and art by GMS artists in partnership with Powell’s City of Books. An exhibition at Powell’s Books showcased each artists work. We are excited to go on a national book tour with the Monograph Project artists in 2024-2025!
GMS recently completed two new murals in Portland for villages that will shelter people experiencing houselessness. These two spectacular giant murals will bring art, joy, and peace to the tenants of these villages, as well as the neighborhoods that surround them.
The Connection Project - Second edition launched mid-November 2023. Linking potter to painter to giver to receiver, each unique handcrafted bowl created new human networks and spreads delight.
