VALENTINE
tiny artworks for tiny houses
VALENTINE, our second exhibition at our new headquarters in the Pearl District, is a collaborative art exhibition featuring artwork gifted by local artists to C(3)PO (Creating Conscious Communities with People Outside) villagers.
In 2020, Gather:Make:Shelter partnered with the C(3)PO coalition as a continuation of our mission in response to the pandemic. Together, we formed three COVID-safe shelter-in-place outdoor communities: BIPOC, Queer Affinity, and Blended Villages. C(3)PO residents have now transitioned to more permanent tiny houses recently purchased by Multnomah County.
The VALENTINE artworks will serve as housewarming gifts to individual village residents, who are hand-crafting their own valentines in exchange.
As a city-wide art exchange, the project creates beauty, inspiration, and connection for previously unhoused members of our community involved in these programs.
Gather:Make:Shelter will host a COVID-safe opening on Saturday, February 20th from 12–4 pm at our new headquarters (906 NW 14th Ave). The exhibition will be available for public viewing until April 24, 2021 during our regular open hours, Friday–Saturday from 12–4 pm.
