The Monograph Project

The Gather:Make:Shelter Monograph Project – Series One was created to highlight the extraordinary artists and poets we have had the good fortune and great joy to with over the past five years. GMS invites you to join us in celebrating the publication of our first collection of artists’ monograph. These books offer you a window into the inner lives of the first artists to be featured in what will be an ongoing project.

We begin Series One with six books–five celebrating the work of individual artists Fahd Sadiq, Aileen McPherson, Violet Fae Rabbit, Marz Alien and Aaron Wolf, and one Featuring Prism: A Queer Collective to showcase our first fashion show of wearable creations by queer and trans artists at Portland’s 2022 Pride Festival.

“To see and be seen. This is how we live. This is how we connect. This is how we thrive. Fahd Sadiq, the graphic designer for this first monograph series and one of the featured artists, tell us that, “as a person who happens to be experiencing houselessness, the most important thing is to be seen as a human being. When the world is serving up obstacle after obstacle, being treated with respect is sometimes the only thing that keeps hope alive.”
