Community Building

Gather:Make:Shelter offers a rotating program of events such as open mic nights, poetry readings, art gallery tours, museum visits, nature outings, and more to foster relationship building, exposure to the arts, and a sense of belonging. Cultural opportunities are too often a luxury that our participants miss out on due to financial barriers, time constraints, lack of trust, and limited community support. By offering free group activities that frequently include meals and transportation, our community-building efforts create pathways to arts and culture for people experiencing houselessness, enhancing quality of life and strengthening their connection to the city they call home.
