The Andy Warhol Foundation For The Visual Arts awards Gather:Make:Shelter with a multi-year program support grant!

We are so excited to announce that The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts has awarded us a 2-year program support grant! Thank you @warholfoundation!

We are filled with gratitude for this momentous support or our arts programming in collaboration with people experiencing houselessness in Portland, Oregon. This grant will help Gather:Make:Shelter provide life-changing opportunities for our participants and empower more people to achieve a sense of well-being, form community and discover new paths to financial stability and permanent housing.

We offer creative skill-building and mentorship through weekly arts workshops, exhibitions, and murals and gardens at transitional shelter villages. As participants take on leadership roles, they become peer mentors and community advocates. GMS artists are building self-confidence and gaining visibility through exhibitions, commissions and public art projects.

Find out more at the link in our bio, and stay tuned about our current and upcoming projects:

  • “The Joy Project: Re-envisioning Portland with Love” is a citywide ceramics project, exhibition and mutual aid fair at Pioneer Courthouse Square on September 9th.

  • A national exhibition and book tour of “The Monograph Project,” including artist talks and discussion forums to share our model with communities across the country.
